A Proposal of Light Control of Bistable Optical Switch

Abstract(in English) Two physical properties of photodarkened CdS_xSe_<1-x>-doped glass can be exploited to make a light-controlled bistable optical switch. One is the photocontrol of electrons due to the existence of trapping states in the band gap of the CdS_xSe_<1-x> particles, and the other one is the optical bistability due to increased absorption. The bostable optical output of the device can be disabled and enabled by introducing and removing a controlling beam.
