Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent progress of the WDM transmission technology, the detailed comprehension of the gain spectum of EDFA (Er-doped optical fiber amplifier) is growing important. In this report, we describe the effect of Spectral-Hole Burning (SHB) on the gain spectum. We measured the SHB effect as the SHB coefficient and the SHB width by using 1 channel of saturating signal and the broad-band probe signal. We measured the change in gain spectrum when we increased/decreased the number of signal channel and we also measured it when we moved the signal wavelength to shorter/longer wavelength area while keeping the number of the channel. We confirmed that these measurement results agreed well with the calculated result based on the 1-wave SHB measurement.
