Athermal laser moduls for Gbit transmission systems

Abstract(in English) Optical links for interconection or high-speed LAN systems are rapidly distributed. In laser modules of the optical links, aspherical plastic lenses for coupling between laser out-put and a fiber are used. But because of temperature dependence of index, shifts of focal point are occurred and out-put power from the fiber is diminished. This time we can suppress the power fluctuation by giving diffraction effects on the plastic lens, on which surfaces have micro-zone plate structure. Obtained power fluctuation is less than 0.1dB in the range of Odeg to 80 deg.
