Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A novel grating structure which can effectively suppress longitudinal spatial hole burning(LSHB)in DFB lasers have been realized. According to a theoretical calculation, the optical coupling constant(κL)varying with the direction of the cavity is possible to provide very flat photon distribution along the cavity. A graded grating structure which can be easily realized utilizing the selective growth technique has been newly developed. The fabricated λ/4 shifted DFB laser with the graded grating demonstrared remarkable improvement of the linearity in light-current characteristics.
