Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Isotope separation of gadolinium and zirconium is expected in the nuclear domain. We have successfully applied the separation method based on the polarization selection rules to these elements using three wide-band dye lasers and obtained high enrichment factors. It has been found that a relatively small magnetic field may cause a degradation of selectivity in the case of gadolinium and the magnetic field should be kept as small as the terrestrial magnetism when the laser polarization is perpendicular to the magnetic field. Experimental study on this effect will be also shown.
