Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the case of an optical data link with optical fibers, optical feedback from optical fiber surface causes the enhancement of relative intensity noise. To avoid this problem, we have investigated noise characteristics of various type of surface emitting lasers, such as multi-transversally mode lasers, single-transversally mode lasers, and polarization controlled lasers, in detail. As a result we confirmed that polarization switching due to feedback light into laser cavity is one of the most dominant seed for noise enhancement and also confirmed that polarization control is promising to reduce this enhancement.
