Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have grown Cr^<3+>-doped huntite-borate crystals Cr:YAB and Cr:GdAB by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. These crystals have a broad fluorescence ranging from the red to near-IR spectral region, and their measured emission lifetime was 170, 107μs, respectively. Using these data, emission cross sections were estimated to be as large as alexandrite. Nonlinear optical coefficients of these crystals are larger than LBO crystal, therefore, they have potential for a new self-frequency doubling laser material with tunability.
