Quadratic nonlinearity in glass film waveguides

Abstract(in English) Second order nonlinearity of radio frequency sputtered Corning 7059 glass film waveguides was remarkably exhibited by corona poling. Phase-matched blue second harmonic generation was observed, using the modal dispersion relation of the waveguide. it was found that glass composition of SiO_2-BaO-B_2O_3 or SiO_2-BaO-Al_2O_3 was effective to induce second order nonlinearity. The activation energy of the nonlinearity in corona-poled Corning7059 glass films were obtained to be 0.5eV.
