Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, extensive studies have been carried out for the development of short wavelength laser diodes (LDs) using ZnSe-based quantum well (QW) structures. It is expected that exciton can contribute to the optical gain even at room temperature (RT) in such structures because excitonic binding energy is enhanced by the quasi-two dimensional confinement. This may lead to the achievement of lower threshold-current density due to its large oscillator strength. The study of excitonic dynamics is interesting not only from the viewpoint of lasing mechanism but also from the future applications of optical functional devices utilizing excitonic non-linear effects. In this report, we present effects of high excitation on localized excitons in ZnSe-based QWs by means of time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy. We also review the prospect of excitonic-related lasing mechanism.
