Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An analysis on switching properties of nonlinear waveguide arrays with a longitudinally-decreasing coupling coefficient is presented. It is shown that both phase and amplitude-controlled optical switching with high extinction ratio can be achieved owing to the adiabatic narrowing of spatial distributions in the waveguide array with axially-decreasing mutual coupling.
