SC-type Hybrid Optical Module Integrating LD, PD and Coupler

Abstract(in English) We developed noble SC-type receptacle bi-directional module integrating laser transmitter, photo diode and coupler for Time Compression Multiplex (TCM) transmissions. The module was so small as to be packaged in SC connector housing parts and was able to be connected to single mode (SM) fiber with usual SC adaptor. The average connection loss was 0.35dB and deviation of connection loss were with in 0.04dB. Optical connection characteristics for the module were equivalent to that for SC connector. The module is very effective for realizing Low cost and small size Optical Network Unit (ONU).
