Numerical Analysis of Characteristics of Photonic Crystal Optical Waveguides

Abstract(in English) We analyze the characteristics of two-dimensional photonic crystal optical waveguides. The method of solution is the FD-TD method based on the principles of multidimensional Wave Digital Filters. First, we calculate the transmission spectra of a two-dimensional square photonic lattice and show that the position of photonic band gap agrees with the result in the dispersion relation calculated by plane-wave expansion method. Next, we analyze the wave propagation in the photonic crystal optical waveguide and confirm the confinement of light wave.
