Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A Cherenkov laser composed of a nonlinear dielectric planar waveguide and a relativistic electron beam is investigated. The effects of the electromagnetic wave diffraction and the Kerr nonlinearity, together with the growing effect due to the energy supply from a relativistic electron beam, are taken into account for the variation of the transverse profile of the electromagnetic wave beam propagated along the planar waveguide. The Ginzburg-Landau equation which describes the spatial evolution of the growing waves is derived and numerically solved for some initial electromagnetic wave beam. The numerical result shows that a spatial soliton can be excited in the nonlinear waveguide by a relativistic electron beam.
