Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method of designing an optical filter has been proposed using Fourier transform between the spatial refractive index profile and the reflection coefficient. The reflection profile of such a filter is assumed to have periodic spectral lines. This method is based on the resemblance of that Fourier transform to the relation between the wave signal and the frequency profile in frequency modulation ( FM ) communication. Using this method, both multilayer and waveguide type filters can be designed. Designing a five spectral line waveguide filter is presented as an application example.
