Long-distance and Large-capacity Transmission Systems Employing WDM Technology

Abstract(in English) Recently, many system demonstrations of the long-distance and large-/capacity transmission have been performed. A 100Gbit/s, 9000km transmission experiment has already been reported utilizing a low noise erbium-doped fiber amplifier and its wide bandwidth. Another report has proven that the transmission performance can be improved by compensating the dispersion slope of the transmission fiber. In this paper, latest reports of the long-distance and large-capacity transmission systems are reviewed.
