Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Switching of spatial frequency of self-organized roll patterns in a nonlinear optical feedback circuit with two mutually coupled Spatial Light Modulators (SLM) are studied. Changing a system control parameter results in a change of spatial frequency of roll patterns. We analyze the pattern forming mechanism using a theoretical model which contains nonlinear intensity modulation characteristics of the SLMs and spatial coupling due to diffusive effects in the SLM and diffraction of the feedback light. Results of numerical simulation, which reproduce the switching phenomena are also shown. Using these phenomena, we propose method for laser beam pointing using self-organized roll patterns in the SLM as diffractive gratings, which allows the direction of beam propagation to be switched by electrical or optical control.
