Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A double-pass pumping is useful for quasi-three-level lasers exhibiting a reabsorption loss. In this paper, the double-pass pumping method with a simple cavity configuration is proposed, and a laser performance of a Tm: YAG laser using this method is investigated. In our experiments, a lower threshold and a higher slope efficiency were achieved, and then an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency was increased by a factor of 1.3, which is compared with that in a conventional end-pumping, namely a single-pass pumping. There was a good agreement between a theory and experimental results.
