Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We report the first operation of more than 1000 hours of a 266nm continuous-wave(CW) frequency-quadrupled solid-state laser with a 100mW output. We used β-BaB_2O_4(BBO) crystal to double the green-light (532nm) using an external cavity. We established the process (crystal growth, polishing and coating) for the frequency-conversion device. The BBO crystal is grown by the Czochralski method that gives lower scattering losses than one grown by flux method. BBO crystal is polished without water because BBO is hygroscopic. The anti-reflection coating on polished surface is deposited by ionplating method resulting in very hard and dense coating.
