Q-switched Waveguide laser in thermally Nd-diffused Z-propagation Ti:LiNbO3

Abstract(in English) There has been a great interest in waveguide lasers on rare-earth doped LiNbO_3 in order to realize small and novel-functional laser devices. We proposed and demonstrated a new Q-switched waveguide laser which consists of a Z-propagation Ti-diffused waveguide and an electrooptic TE/TM mode converter on a thermally Nd-diffused X-cut LiNbO_3. A prototype device was fabricated and optically pumped at 809nm wavelength. Driving the mode converter by a rectangular voltage wave with a frequency of 14kHz and a peak voltage of ± 120V, we successfully obtained a Q-switched laser pulse of 1093nm wavelength.
