Novel Optical Wavefront Transformer using Multiple Interference Effect inside a Gires-Tournois Resonator (GTR)

Abstract(in English) We previously presented the first proposal [4, 5] to construct optical elements (lens, prism, etc.) using not reflection, refraction or diffraction but multiple-beam interference inside a Gires-Tournois resonator (GTR). By coating the front surface of GTR with a pre-defined graded reflectivity profile, various optical elements can be synthesized. Here we synthesized a lens and a spatial filter as proof-of-concept examples. One unique feature of this lens is that it can function as a converging lens, diverging lens or plane reflecting mirror depending on the resonator length. The numerical results are presented and limitations of the new elements are also discussed.
