Polymeric Optical Waveguides with 45° Mirrors for Optical Interconnections

Abstract(in English) Two types of low-loss polymeric optical waveguide with 45° mirrors, which accomplish 90° out-of-plane optical deflection into or away from their substrates, were fabricated by cutting the waveguides with a 90° V-shaped or a 45° wedge-shaped diamond blade. The insertion losses of the waveguides with 45° mirrors were less than 0.4 dB at 830 nm. These polymeric optical waveguides with 45° mirrors have considerable potential for use in the field of optical Interconnections.
