Abstract(in English) A 2×400 SM optical fiber switch has been developed, which has axial optical fiber alignment mechanism In a V groove array. 400 V grooves are formed on a ceramic base in a 250μm even pitch. 400 optical fibers are fixed by adhesive on one end, 2 optical fibers held on a transferring stage driven by an electric motor approach the other end. The ends of the stationary optical fibers are cut obliquely, are kept free from adhesive as well. On making connection, the 2 mobile optical fibers get Into certain 2 V grooves. then the pairs of the mobile and stationary optical fibers are pressed mechanically. This makes alignment accuracy higher. plus, the Index matching oil filling the cavity of the optical switch makes reflection lower. As a result, we have got 0.4dB of maximum insertion loss. 0.1dB of repeatability, and 40dB of minimum return loss.
