High Power Operation of a LD Array Pumped Nd:YAG Laser MOPA System

Abstract(in English) In this paper,we describe an efficient LD pumped 1.064μm Nd:YAG laser MOPA(Master Oscillator Power Amplifier)system.The regenerative amplifier provided a gain of 71 dB,producing 6.0mJ pulses at a repetition rate of 50Hz.An energy extraction efficiency as high as 48% was obtained in the regenerative amplifier at a pulse width of 910ps.The 8mJ output beam from the regenerative amplifier was amplified in the double pass main amplifier using four Nd:YAG disks.Each Nd:YAG disk was pumped from both sides by two quasi-CW 300W LD arrays.The Nd:YAG disks were surface-cooled by flowing He gas.The output of the main amplifier was 47.6mJ with an optical-optical conversion efficiency of 14.9% at 1ns and 50Hz.
