Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The optical soliton loop transmission experiment by utilizing the effect of sliding filter is demonstrated. The effect is caused by inserting an acousto-optic modulator(AOM)as an optical frequency shifter and an optical band-pass filter(BPF)in the 20-km long transmission loop. The AOM makes 110 MHz frequency shift in the transmitting lights. The bandwidth of the filter is 1 nm.The optical pulse source which consists of a 1.55 μm DFB laser diode a nd an MQW electro-absorption modulator was used in the experiment. We observed that the soliton frequency was trapped by the optical BPF.Also 10 Gbit, s soliton pulses were transmitted over 4,000 km without any significant change in pulse width.
