Surface mount type optical modules

Abstract(in English) We have developed surface mount type optical modules using passive alignment. The modules were sealed with resin in plastic packages. Coupling losses of the modules with conventional LD were more than 10dB, and those with mode-deformed LD are more than 4dB. Responsivities of the side-illuminated PD modules were more than 7.5A/W.
