Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The relation between the coupler structure and the coupling characteristics is discussed in this report. Using the coupled mode theory for a tapered structure, numerical analyses is carried out for a linear tapered coupled waveguide. Coupled mode equations are reduced to another expression based on the power and phase of array modes. By virtue of the expression, the coupling characteristics are discussed in detail. It is shown that in the coupler considered here, the coupling characteristics can be expressed by one parameter which is determined by the waveguide parameters.
