Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose for the first time a novel technique for simultaneous measurement of the refractive index n and thickness t of transparent plates, used as a measured object, in the low-coherence Michelson interferometer. In this method, The measured object (on the focusing lens) are placed on precise translation stages as well as the reference mirror. A illuminating light is focused on the front and rear planes of the object by moving the object (or the lens). The moving distance and the corresponding optical path difference yield desirable values of n and t with short calculation. It is fully possible to achieve the measurement accuracy of 10^<-3> using commercially available stages.
