On the Effects of IVCN At Ramp

Abstract(in English) In our previous studies, the effectiveness of an IVCN to improve the traffic safety on straight highway roads has been reported. In this paper, we introduce a ramp into our traffic flow simulator and investigate the effectiveness of an IVCN in such a road. The results show that an IVCN is effective to improve the traffic safety in such a road. Moreover, from evaluations of modified road capacity, it is also shown that by using an IVCN the number of throughable vehicles can be improved. Such results show that the road capacity can be improved without increase the number of lanes.
