Abstract(in English) AW-CDM (Adaptively Weighted Code Division Multiplexing) hierarchical digital transmission system for terrestrial digital broadcasting provides both high quality services for fixed receivers and low quality services for mobile/portable receivers simultaneously. It is efficiently realized by power weighting for a part of the orthogonal codes in the system. The performance of weighted layer against multipath and noise is improved by process gain obtained by the power weighting. This paper describes indoor experimental results for prototype AW-CDM modem using a complex adaptive equalizer, which consists of four symbol (tip) rate FIR filters, to improve performance of non-weighted and negatively weighted layers in the multipath channel. The results of indoor transmission tests confirm that D/U (BER=10^<-3>) characteristics against multipath propagation are improved by 5 to 9dB (Layer 2 : non-weighed) and 7 to 11dB (Layer 3 : -3dB weighted).
