A Study of Bearing Estimation for Wideband Signals

Abstract(in English) We can directly obtain the optimal weight coefficients of the array antenna without time domain processing, if the bearings, i.e., directions of arrival (DOAs) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the desired signal and interfering signals can be accurately estimated. These conventional methods using the spatial spectrum estimation have been introduced in narrowband communication. However, if these methods are applied to wideband signals, such as spread spectrum or CDMA signals, the estimated bearing is shifted relative to the true bearing. Therefore, in the proposed algorithm, we introduce a recursive process of matching the spatial spectra, which are calculated from an assumed bearing, with the observed spatial spectrum.
