| Abstract(in English) | The lossless Wavelet transform, which contains "rounding" operations in the lifting structure, is attracting many researcher's attention since it is a convenient tool to realize the "lossless-lossy unified coding system". However it becomes a problem that the rounding operations generate the "rounding error" resulting in degradation of the decoded image in lossy coding mode. This can not be negligible in high bit rates when the rounding error is comparable to the quantization error. This report proposes a method for reduction of the rounding error introducing the "spatial quantization" into the lossless Wavelet transform. This quantization is different from the conventional quantization (in transform domain) and it is done before the wavelet transform (in spatial domain). We find the best combination of the "spatial quantization" and the "transform quantization" analyzing how the rounding errors are transferred in the encoder and decoder. Effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed as 1.5 [dB] SNR increase. |
