QoS in Distributed Multimedia Applications and QoS Mapping

Abstract(in English) This report first discusses what Quality of Service (QoS) is in distributed multimedia applications. The report also points out the importance of QoS at the user level and that media strcams compensate for each other. It handles the media synchronization quality as the QoS taking account of the temporal structure of media streams. Furthermore, we present an example of adaptive QoS control which integrates QoS control techniques at various levels. Next the report explains the present status of QoS mapping techniques, and it describes the necessity of the QoS mapping among plural media streams and the importance of the mapping between the QoS at the user level and that at the other levels. Finally, an example of the QoS mapping between the application level and the user level is presented.
