A Wireless Cellular Packet System with Slotted ALOHA

Abstract(in English) An uplink wireless access technique for packet data communication is presented and evaluated. It is the application of a connectionless communication scheme to a wireless communication system with slotted ALOHA. Mobile terminals can transmit packets at any time without the establishment of a connection to a base station. A system using this technique could perform the base station diversity with selective combining or with maximal ratio combining (MRC). The throughput is much improved when the base stations use adaptive array antennas, which is shown by the results of computer simulations.
