Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a novel metric weighting method for soft-decision Viterbi decoding in OFDM systems employing Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) with maximum likelihood decision algorithm. In the conventional scheme, hard-decision Viterbi decoding for Forward Error Correction (FEC) was employed because output signals from the maximum likelihood decision algorithm for SDM have ideal constellations. In the proposed scheme, metrics for Viterbi decoding are weighted based on the likelihoods calculated by maximum likelihood decision algorithm for SDM. Computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme effectively improves the PER performance.
