Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) PHS with a 64kbps bearer service of best effort type dynamically switches the channel capacity between 64kbps and 32kbps according to the number of available channels. When it switches from 64kbps to 32kbps, the access network is congested. As a result, the delay increase, and data loss may occur. When it switches from 32kbps to 64kbps, the allocated channel capacity may not be utilized effectively. This report proposes a traffic control scheme to avoid the congestion and use the allocated channel capacity effectively. We show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme by experiment. In the experiment, a G.726 audio stream and an H.263 video stream were transmitted from a terminal in a wired network through PHS public base stations to a PHS mobile terminal. The PHS mobile terminal made handover by moving at a walking speed, which switched the channel capacity.
