Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are problems on TCP communication efficiency in the Internet access through mobile computing. In this paper, we propose an efficient transport protocol for mobile environment which inter-works with existing TCP stacks. The proposed protocol achieves high efficiency by taking ideas which are an avoidance of congestion control against packet losses over wireless link, compression of header size by providing messages for each functions and a re-transmission mechanism mainly performed by a receiver. An evaluation with a prototype system results 5%~50% throughput improvement in the range of 0~2.0E-4 byte error rate on 1,500 bytes MTU size condition and 21%~7,000% better throughput on 375 bytes MTU size.
