Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IP network performance management should be carried out by using the performance metrics of end-to-end communication, Therefore, it is necessary to estimate end-to-end performance from lower-layer management objects, such as Management information base (MIB) objects. This paper proposes a new objective mapping method for estimating the end-to-end performance metrics based on lower-layer management objects through measurements. At first, the end-to-end performance metrics and MIB objects with various types of back-ground traffic and/or various network topologies are measured. Next, we use quantification theory to clarify the effects of experimental conditions and MIB objects to the end-to-end performance metrics simultaneously. Multiple linear-regression model and step-wise selection are used to obtain stable and efficient estimation. At last, we apply the proposed method to our test-bed network and clarified the MIB object and its threshold for daily management.
