Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The eight figure satellite orbit is discussed to be applied for mobile satellite communication, as the orbit can provide high elevation angle for cities in middle latitude. The eight figure satellite orbit can be achieved when a inclination is attached to geostationaly satellite orbit. The orbit provides high elevation angle of more than 70 degrees in Tokyo and more than 60 degrees in all areas of Japan. These high elevation angles, however, can be blocked by cities building. In this background, it becomes important to evaluate correspondence of available communication path to elevation angle in large cities. In this paper, we propose a effective evaluation method using statistics of blocking ratio of signals from global positioning system. Results of this evaluation are also discussed.
