Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to improve fairness and stability of TCP best-effort service, we have formerly proposed a congestion control mechanism using packet loss information obtained from Selective Acknowledgements(SACK), and have already reported its characteristics for end nodes. In this paper, we present simulation results with different types of traffic(ftp, ftp+telnet)in order to show that network resources are efficientlyutilized and packet transmission time is reduced. Although the originally proposed method is suited to a RED-type router environment, we also show that it is still effectiveon a conventional Simple-FIFO(Drop Tail)type router environment.
