Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a network architecture for a global networking service platform to provide an IP multicasting service. IP multicasting is hierarchically performed by means of both frame multicasting functions in the core network and cell multicasting functions in the access networks. Since these elemental functions are implemented with hardware-assistance, forwarding performance is improved. In order to further avoid performance degradation, IP multicasting control functions to create multicasting trees are separated from IP forwarding devices and centralized into a single server. In addition, a root point of each multicasting treemis fixed by introducing a IP multicasting representative forwarder. This approach is effective to control multicasting traffic as well as to reduce server's processing load.
