Group Synchronization in Multicast Communications : A Distributed Control Scheme

Abstract(in English) For media synchronization in multicast communications, this report proposes a scheme which adjusts the output timing among destinations in a multicast group under distributed control. The scheme is referred to as the distributed control scheme in this report. We also make a qualitative comparison among the distributed control scheme and two centralized control schemes which we previously proposed. We have implemented the distributed control scheme on a lip-synch experimental system using an interconnected ATM-Ethernet LAN. Furthermore, the report evaluates the system performance such as mean square error of group synchronization and the coefficient of variation of output interval.
