Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Considering the recent rapidly increasing traffic of Internet services etc. and requirements of future data transfer services, we have proposed a new high-speed data transfer method suitable for IP packet etc. whose length is long and variable. To solve "cell tax problem" and "dead cell problem", we have proposed "multiple length cell" method that can use a basic length cell and its multiples. The basic cell length is a processing unito of the high-speed switch hardware. Better transfer efficiency results of Multiple Length Cell method than that of Fixed Length Cell method are shown in this paper. A new switch architecture of Multiple Length Cell method based on existing ATM switch architecture is also described.
