Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) High-quality music sound through the Internet can be enjoyed by personal computer because of recent advances in low bit-rate audio coding techniques. This talks current status of the audio coding and quality assessment at the low bit-rates. MPEG-1 audio was standardized for package media applications, and MPEG-2 audio for multi-channel reproduction. MPEG-4 standard is expected to be applied to various multimedia applications. In this talk, the quality and applications of TwinVQ method which was drafted in MPEG-4 committee for audio coding standard based on Analysis-by Synthesis algorithm are mentioned.
