Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When MPEG stream is transferred over ATM CBR service class, the burstiness of MPEG traffic causes the ineffective bandwidth usage and the quality degradation from cell loss. In this paper, we introduce some rate control methods of MPEG stream to achieve the high quality MPEG transfer over ATM CBR service class. They are priority control method, space reduction method, time reduction method and the bandwidth renegotiation method. Using these methods, we can control the cell emission rate of MPEG stream by sustaining the quality of MPEG video according to the amount of the allocated bandwidth. Through evaluations, we show that the space reduction method is effective.
