Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An ATM network defines several service classes such as CBR, VBR and ABR such that the user selects one of those classes which satisfies the QoS requirement of the user. However, applications, especially computerbased multimedia applications, require a wide variety of QoS, and the conventional bandwidth allocation methods including the above service classes cannot meet those demands. We propose a new dynamic bandwidth control methods based on the bandwidth negotiation between users and the network. By this mechanism, the user does not select the service class, but is able to set the required bandwidth directly. The difficulties of call admission control and usage parameter control required in the VBR service class can be then avoided. Through simulation, we investigate the performance and obtained service qualities of our proposed methods.
