Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Resolution is one of the most important factors to evaluate a display, though its definition is not specified yet. Among some definitions, MTF presents the resolution most quantitatively. The authors have developed an MTF measurement device which consists of a pick-up unit, a video signal generator and a signal processing unit. With an MOS line sensor in the pick-up unit this device detects resolution degradation due to sampling by such as CRT's shadow-mask. MTFs of a CRT rear projection display and a PDP are shown. While the response of the CRT projection display decreases gradually with the increase of frequency, the MTF of the PDP shows the sampling effect clearly.
