Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Weighted Round Robin(WRR)is commonly used as a cell scheduling method in ATM switches. Using a WRR cell scheduler, the minimum bandwidth can be guaranteed for each service class with keeping efficient network resource usage. However, the delay performance, especially the maximum delay bound, becomes worse when accommodating bursty traffic. This causes severe performance degradation of real-time trafftic which requires delayguarantee. In this paper, we propose a new WRR scheme: WRR with Save and Borrow (WRR/SB), to improve delay performance of real-time traffic. Then we provide an analysis for WRR and WRR/SB to obtain the delay performance of them. Some numerical examples show that WRR/SB is effective to improve the rnaximum delay bound of WRR. It is also shown that WRR/SB can achieve a target delay bound with smaller extra bandwidth compared to WRR.
