Abstract(in English) | This paper introduces the ongoing study on ATM layer protection switching within ITU-T SG13, which is developing Draft Recommendation I.ps(ATM Protection Switching). Draft Recommendation I.ps specifies VPG (VP Group) protection in addition to individual VP/VC protection. One of the major objectives of the VPG protection is fast switching. All of the specified methods are bidirectional switching. Thus, they need protection switching coordination protocol similar to the ones used for SDH multiplex section protection. This paper shows architectures, requirements, and mechanisms of the protection switching methods specified in Draft Recommendation I.ps. |
