Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As the Internet users grows, new network services are emerging. Those includes ADSL and CATV Internet, which provide asymmetric bandwidth for uplink and downlink of the user's connection. In this paper, we investigate the TCP behavior on such asymmetric networks, and derive the analytic results of the TCP performance. Through numerical examples, it is shown that as the asymmetry of the network becomes large, the performance of TCP is significantly degraded. We further present how the various network parameters affect the TCP performance, and show the designing policy of TCP on the asymmetric network.
