Application of Media Synchronizaition Control to H.223 Annex A Multiplexing Protocol in PHS

Abstract(in English) This report studies the application of a media synchronization mechanism to the H.223 Annex A in PHS. The Annex allows an interleaved transmission of video with ARQ or FEC and audio without any control over a single communication link; this is a type of single-stream approach. The media synchronization problem due to network delay jitters in the interleaved transmission has not been discussed in either the Annex or some related standards. We apply the slide control scheme, which has been proposed for the multi-stream approach, to the single-stream transmission of live media. Through simulation we confirm the effectiveness of the slide control scheme in the single-stream approach.
